Liam
In our latest "Meet the Team" article we speak to Liam about the work he does at Fraction Servers and how technology has evolved since he joined the company
What is your job title at Fraction Servers and can you describe the role for us?
Linux Server Engineer: I handle the setup and ongoing running of many of our customer’s servers. As well as keeping an eye on the Fraction Servers’ infrastructure
When did you start working at Fraction Servers and how have things changed during this time?
I started work at the parent company, UKServers at the beginning of 2020 and have been able to see our offering grow considerably. Especially as the need for cloud infrastructure has increased so much. It has been very exciting to be involved in the assembly of our new data centre and I can’t wait for it to come online!
If you could have one super power what would it be?
I think flying would be quite good fun, and very useful for exploring new places – would also help for getting to servers at the top of the rack!
Is there a particular tool, script, website or piece of software that you find invaluable in your day to day job?
ClickPaste. It’s a handy little tool that allows you to paste text as if you typed it yourself. Absolutely essential for when you need to paste in a command or key to a console viewer
What do you like most about working at Fraction Servers?
I really like the way in which we are always trying out new approaches and ideas. It definitely helps to keep everyone learning about new technologies so we can offer good advice to customers
What was the first computer that you owned?
A small Dell C521, I think running an Athlon 64. Far from the greatest computer ever built, but it did the job!
What are you currently working on for Fraction Servers?
I am currently testing out our latest hardware and hypervisor offerings to ensure we can make the best recommendations for new servers.
